Internet Business For The Beginner

In the current economic climate, more and more individuals are turning to the Internet to improve their financial situation. With the downsizing and even closing of industries, with hiring freeze occurring in the health care industry, with unemployment statistics on the rise, more and more people are looking for ways to work from home, using their computer to improve their bottom line.

Starting any business is risky and working on line is no different. In fact it may be even more risky. Traditional, mortar and brick businesses have had the advantage of face to face meetings with contractors, other business people and potential clients. While there are always disreputable business people, working on the Internet requires even more diligence on the part of those entering into this business arena. Learning to avoid those offers that promise everything and deliver nothing, is vital to the new entrepreneur.

Spend any time on the web, and you will be overwhelmed with offers to help you build a business online. Initial offers will overwhelm and confuse you, this is totally within the norm. This is when common sense comes in, if it sounds too good to be true, then it is. When you become interested in a business opportunity, research the business. Forums are a good place to start your research. Spend time talking to others who share your interests and future goals. There are also other places on the web that provide lists of scams and get rich quick schemes. Taking the time to research these opportunities can save you money in the long run. Paying close attention to what you are buying is the first step in building your business.

Be prepared for the "do it now" or "limited time only" offers. These are tools in the marketers bag, that creates a since of urgency. If the business is worth being involved in, it will still be there in the morning. You absolutely need to shine the light on whatever venture you are looking to invest your time, energy and money into. If the offers do not hold up to your investigation, then you should avoid them.

Understand, from the beginning, that working on line is still work. There are all kinds of stories on the web, about how someone who made hundreds of thousands of dollars while only working a few hours a day from their home, using their computer. While, this might be true, you have to be realistic in your approach to building your business. Building wealth comes from hard work, not with a few clicks of your mouse.

Nothing on line is free. Eventually, you will need to spend money. Knowing where to spend your money is key. You will need a web page to promote your product or services. Unless you are a web designer, or familiar with html, you will need someone to build your website. Then you will need a service to host your web page.
There are several options that you can utilize, preferably, you will find a company that can do both for a reasonable fee. Be sure that the hosting company has a well built support system in place and that they can be reached easily. Read the terms of service carefully.

Successful web sites, change and update their web pages frequently. Learning html can come in handy for this purpose, otherwise you will have to pay someone to do this for you. If owning your own web page doesn't appeal to you, then try building your own blog. Blog spot and Word press are just 2 of the options that you can use, especially if you are just starting out.

Absolutely, the greatest expense you will incur is marketing and advertising. Understand from the start, that unless you have a great deal of money, you can not compete with the "big dogs" on the Internet. That being said, you can still promote yourself and your business. Article writing is one of the best ways to do just that, with no out of pocket expense. It is a great way of building creditability and building one way links to your blog or website. It can also be creative and fun. If you are uncomfortable writing yourself, there are numerous websites that will write and post articles for you. The cost for these services range in price. Here again, pay close attention to what you are buying.

Social sites can also be a fun place to meet and network with potential clients. Spend time getting to know the people on these sites and take the opportunity to let them learn about you. What your values and goals are,and what you and your company can offer them in services or products. Remember that these are social sites, not business sites and your language and tone should reflect that. Honesty, is important, if you aren't believeable, it will show. Social sites are the "cocktail hour" that businesses used in decades past to network and build a client list.

Hopefully, this information has offered building blocks to new and future online entrepreneurs. Education, staying focused and working hard can and will build your business.

The Abuse of The American Taxpayer

The stimulus package has passed the House and has moved to the Senate for their vote. This package which is over 1000 pages, contains handwritten items, scratched out items and in general looks like something that a 5th grader may have written. Once again, the American Taxpayer is being taken to the cleaners by our so called representatives in Washington.

As average Americans, who work hard for their money, we find it disgusting that our hard earned tax dollars are being given away to corporations, banks and other institutions. Why is it so hard for the Washington Elite to understand that this is not the way to save our country and the economy.

These large corporations have done it to themselves, through their greed and poor business practices. The entire country is living off of borrowed money and borrowed time.

The Federal Government has no business bailing out big business. If anything, they should be bailing out the American People. Stop taking our money and give it back to us, and let us use it to improve our lives and the lives of our children.

Congress doesn't want to listen to what the American People have to say. They consider us too stupid or too uneducated to understand how things work. The truth is, that we understand more then they realize. They don't give a damn about us or this country. They care about themselves and their pocketbook. They live off of us and our blood, sweat and tears.

Instead of giving our tax dollars to large corporations, who have done nothing but abuse taxpayers, invest in small businesses. The mom and pop businesses have always been the backbone of this country. Give the money to the American People to pay down their mortgages, pay down their credit cards. Get the money back into the economy, into the taxpayers hands.

The power brokers in Washington are abusing the American Taypayer and it needs to STOP! We are borrowing this money from foreign governments, such as China, Arab countries, Japan and others. This is disgusting. They are selling us down the river to pay for the mistakes of big business.

Congress needs to cut the fat! Stop the trips on taxpayers dollars. Stop research that doesn't help the American People Now! Invest now in solar, wind and other technology that will create jobs. Start rebuilding our infra structure, the roads and bridges. This will create jobs, just like it did during the Great Depression.

Start listening to the American People. Stop the taxation without representation. Stop selling our country to foreign powers.

We, the American People, need to take back our government. We need to demand that our representative in Congress start working for us and in our best interests, not theirs.

Failure Is A Choice Not A Fact

If you have been researching the various avenues that the Internet holds for a home business, then you have seen the facts that surround an online business. The statistics in and of themselves are frightening. At least 95% of Internet Businesses fail. These are the facts and as entrepreneurs, forewarned is forearmed. It's what you do with these facts that count.
Education and training is paramount to building, maintaining and growing your home business. In the current economy climate it is easy to get drawn into the scams and false promises that are posted on the Internet.
Your approach to your home business is extremely important. If you treat it as a hobby, that's all it will be, nothing more. A business online, is just that, a business. If you choose to succeed, you will.
Initially, you should set goals for yourself and your business. Set aside time each day to study and learn about the different aspects of your business. If you are unfamiliar with your computer, get to know it better. If you have a website, especially one that was built for you, it is imperative that you know what is on it and how easy visitors can move around it.
When you set goals, keep them realistic. If you think that you can just put up a website and then walk away and when you come back you are a millionaire, then you have chosen failure. If you decided to work each day for x amount of hours to learn, build and grow your business, you have chosen to succeed. That being said, it is imperative that you stay focused on your goals and keep working towards your future.
Set Goals, Stay Focused, and Keep Moving Forward Towards Your Future.

Social Networking and Your Home Business

If you have been in business at any time in your life then you have been involved in some type of networking. In decades past it was cocktails or dinner with a client or potential client. Networking has always played a role in marketing a business or business opportunity.

The latest marketing tools, are the social networking sites, such as MySpace, Facebook or the newest Twitter. More than half of all Americans from those in their early teens to those heading for retirement are active on one or more social networking site. More and more individuals are hosting their own blog to talk about themselves, the family or their business.

With technology and software becoming more user friendly, more people are using the Internet to stay connected with family and friends. They are blogging and using social networking sites to meet people around the globe. Individuals are using these sites to learn about products and services. It is similar to talking to friends and family for recommendations for everything from where to have dinner, shop or visit. It's the "word of mouth" advertising that business crave and need to grow and prosper.

Business and marketers continually look for ways to improve and expand their client base. Social networking sites and blogs provide an avenue for these individuals to learn who their potential clients are on a personal level. You get to know them as individuals first and then as clients. It allows that personal touch which as been missing from business and from corporate America.

To use social networking sites effectively and to grow your business, individuals must remember that words have meaning and impact those reading them. How you use words can directly impact the growth or decline of your business. Many social sites promote a "free wheeling" atmosphere in conversations, therefore caution is advised in your conversations on those sites. It is important to remember that words linger on the Internet long after your "log off" a site. This written word is the presentation you have given of you and your business. It's how you are representing yourself.

Social networking is about getting to know your potential clients and in turn letting them know who you are and what your business has to offer. It's that human touch that, we as social creatures crave.

Many traditional marketers underestimate the power that social networking sites and blogs have on consumers. They also underestimate the role that these sites will continue to play in business and with the growth of businesses. With the growth of Blogs, Twitter, Squidoo and other social sites, those with online business or who are contemplating starting an online business must learn how to leverage these social networking sites to their advantage.

While more conventional marketing will continue to play a role in business and a marketing budget, marketers will need to be more fluid in their thinking and in their marketing techniques.
